About Japan Real Talk
Welcome to Japan Real Talk — your window into everyday life in Japan from a local’s perspective.
Many people overseas know Japan for sushi, anime, or temples — but there’s so much more happening behind the scenes. This blog exists to share the kind of daily experiences that Japanese people take for granted, but which can feel surprising, fascinating, and valuable to visitors and curious readers alike.
Who I Am
Hi! I’m a full-time blogger living in Japan.
My hobbies include gaming, taking walks, and investing — and I live a simple, down-to-earth lifestyle just like many people here.
I don’t share everything about my personal life, but what I do share here is rooted in real, everyday experience. Whether it’s buying groceries, eating out, or navigating social norms, I write about what I see, feel, and learn in daily life.
Why I Started This Blog
At first, I didn’t realize how many everyday things we take for granted in Japan could be genuinely interesting to people abroad.
Then I started thinking:
Maybe the things I see as “just normal” are things others would find useful, eye-opening, or fun to learn about.
That curiosity became the spark for this blog.
What You Can Expect Here
This blog focuses on the realities of life in Japan — the parts that don’t always make it into guidebooks:

- The reasons behind cultural norms
- Honest, first-hand experiences
- Practical insights into food, lifestyle, costs, and culture
You’ll find content that helps you understand not just what life in Japan looks like — but why it feels the way it does.
Topics I’m Passionate About
Some of the themes you’ll see often include:
- Japanese food culture
- Daily routines and habits
- Living expenses and value-based comparisons
- Things that surprised me — and might surprise you too
